SARA BARAS – "CARMEN"
Sara is a fantastic flamenco dancer. Soon in Madrid, from February 13, her new dance show “Carmen”. MUF assures that everybody will enjoy seeing her dance with her group. Sara Baras doesn´t dissapoint. Again,not easy to get tickets. Teatro Lope de Vega, Gran Via, 57.

MUSICAL "A"
Madridisuserfriendly recommends the musical “A” produced by Nacho Cano, ex Mecano, successful pop group of the 70’s. A well known, modern Spanish musician, Cano has produced this musical, an impressive spectacle of lights, water and music. The composer dwells on subjects like the conservation of nature, shortage of water and the power of women's Tickets are difficult, but it’s worth a try.

Again, take note, MySpace is sponsoring the Teatro Rialto. The Gran Via once the center for cinema, theatre and musicals is slowly changing –with the beneplacit of Town Hall- so a sponsorship by MySpace is very much appreciated. It may help save what was once one of the great streets of Europe, where the likes of Ava Gardner and Orson Wells roamed.
MAYUMANÁ
An Israeli dance and percussion group. Though the members of the group were all born in Israel, they are several different nationalities. A combination of dance and percussion, the choreographies is of enormous vitality due to the picturesque instruments garbage cans and other recycled objects.
Mayumaná returns to Madrid with an absolutely new show, MOMENTUM, full of surprises but with energy and the pace of always!

There is a very extended program worth looking at. The Theatre is lovely and sometimes they play on screne and outdoor seats can be had to enjoy some of the best in classical music in the open air.

TEATRO DE LA ZARZUELA
This wonderful light opera is one of Spain’s best kept secrets… The Zarzuela Opera is a typical Spanish genre where words, songs and dance scenes are connected. It was first represented during the time of Philip IV at the Palace of Zarzuela near Madrid and present home of the present monarchs of Spain, King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia, hence the name Zarzuela. Since the XIX century, the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid is where you can see the best Zarzuela, unique to Spain and is a visit not to be missed.

This years season begins on September 19 with “La Celestina”, by the sixteenth century author, Fernando de Rojas, and is considered one of the greatest works in Spanish literature. From November until January the Teatro de la Zarzuela presents “El Rey que Rabió”. At the beginning of the New Year “La Gran Vía...esquina a Chueca” directed by Antonio Fauró. During 2009, (24th of April -24th of May) the Teatro de la Zarzuela will be putting on “¡Una noche de Zarzuela..!” During July and August “La Calesera” will be on the billboard.
The Teatro de la Zarzuela offers a variety of shows, in between the zarzuelas, which are also worth seeing. The Classic Music Show is on during selected days in October, February and March and the “Festival Operadhoy” in May and June. With such a rich and varied calendar there will be something interesting for everybody.

AUDITORIO NACIONAL DE MÚSICA
The National Music Auditorium (ANM) is a part of the National Institute of Scenic Arts and Music (Ministry of Culture). It was opened on 21 October 1988.
The ANM is responsible for important activities in the world of music, offering its facilities to both individuals and public or private organizations for the holding of musical events. Its two concert halls Symphony and Chamber, with 2,324 and 692 seats respectively, allow up to four concerts a day to be held, with afternoon and evening performances.
The Spanish National Orchestra and Choir has its headquarters at the ANM. The Auditorium is also the headquarters of the Spanish National Youth Orchestra.

MUSICADHOY “UNIVERSO SCELSI”
The Auditorio Nacional de Musica inaugurates the XIV edition of musicadhoy, of January 12. This year, the cycle of 10 concerts is dedicated to Giacinto Scelsi, one of the 20th century most interesting and attractive compositors. “Universo Scelsi”, makes Madrid one of the most interesting and dynamic European capitals where the contemporary music is concerned.
An exhibition dedicated to the composer is planned for the 10 and 23 of June in the Sala Sinfonica of the Auditorio Nacional. The whole event ends on 23 June 2009.
